DIY Treestump Side Table

November 12, 2012

I live in a neighborhood with lots of enormous old trees lining the streets.  This year, sadly, a few of the larger oaks died and needed to be cut down.  This was no small job, and the tree people were out there for weeks, swinging their chainsaws while dangling from tree limbs. Not a job for the faint of heart! The results of their efforts were piles of chopped up tree trunks, in various sizes, covering my neighbors’ yards.

Earlier this year, I bookmarked this tutorial on Restyle.Restore.Rejoice on how to turn a tree stump into a side table.

They were selling a nearly identical one at West Elm for $200! If trees are coming down in your neighborhood, too, pick up a stump and give this one a try! It takes a little time, and an awful lot of sanding, but I think the results are well worth the effort.

OMG. How did we let all those stumps get away? We totally should have grabbed them up and done this project. I will be on the hunt now for another felled tree.
