Plant Some Bulbs!

April 3, 2013

Are the daffodils and hyacinths in full bloom near you? They’re definitely out here, and, as always, are putting on a beautiful show. Flowers like this are so gratifying–stick a bulb in the ground and you’ve got almost guaranteed blooms year after year. We focus so much on these beautiful spring perennials, but did you know there are a bunch of bulbs you can plant right now that will give you big, splashy flowers all summer long? Now is the time to plant these, if you live in the Ohio valley! If you’re not from around here, check out this map to see when your area should start planting.

Not sure which bulbs you should try? Here are some lovely ideas:

Caladium is a tropical looking leafy plant that comes in green, pink, red and white. I love how lush this looks!

Everyone loves Calla Lilies. They’re so elegant and modern looking.

Canna Lilies are another tropical looking plant that will add tons of color and texture to your garden.

Dahlias are one of my favorite flowers. I just love all those petals, and those gigantic blooms!

Get these bulbs in the ground now, and have a beautiful summer for years to come!
