The Pearl in Columbus

May 28, 2013

Did you have a nice long weekend? We packed about a week’s worth of activity into those three short days, but had a fantastic time.  On Friday night, we finally made it out the The Pearl, in downtown Columbus, and it was wonderful. The service was a bit slow (probably because it was so packed, we could hardly get to the host stand to let them know we were there), but the food was good and the drinks were great. I started out with a Moscow Mule, which David thinks I only like because it’s Oprah’s favorite drink (true), and they served it in the traditional copper mug. It was so icy cold, I think I may buy some for summer cocktails (maybe these?).

They brought the bill inside a copy of an old book, and it was full of graffiti from earlier patrons–fun!

Anyway, try The Pearl, if you’re in Columbus, and if not, try a Moscow Mule! Here’s the recipe (from here):

1 half lime

2 oz vodka

4-6 oz ginger beer (not ginger ale–you can make it yourself! here’s a recipe!)

Squeeze lime into Collins glass (or copper mug) and drop in half lime. Add 2 or 3 large ice cubes, then pour in the vodka and fill with cold ginger beer. Serve with a stirring rod. Sit back and enjoy your summer.
