Rustic Strawberry Cake

I took my 2 year old to a strawberry field last week, and although she made a concerted effort to eat berries faster than I could pick them, I managed to come home with a fair amount.  Unfortunately, they started going bad almost immediately–way faster than grocery store strawberries, it seemed.

Luckily, I have a great back pocket recipe for just this situation.  So, if you find yourself stuck with a surplus of berries that are just passing their prime, this is a great way to use them all up in one go, and you’ll make your family and friends very happy in the process.  Also, your house will smell like the inside of a jar of strawberry jelly.
