Linen Towels

July 2, 2013

Yesterday afternoon, David and I left our child with her grandparents and headed to Asheville, North Carolina for the night. We are having a great time window-shopping and people-watching in this little town!

One of my favorite shops here sold beautiful linens and baskets–all handmade and all absolutely gorgeous. I’m not usually one to get too excited about tablecloths and baskets, but these were really special.

One thing I saw there that I’ve been coveting for years were Turkish linen bath towels, also known as Peshtemals.

These large, gauzy towels are super-versatile: big enough to use as a beach blanket or a summer-weight throw, and thin enough to dry out quickly and fold up super small to pack or store. And they’ve got a lovely, Mediterranean look.

There are lots of buying options, like here or here, and if you’re ever in Asheville, check out Asheville Shades & Market Basket!
