Friday Feature: Retro Homes

August 9, 2013

Do you watch Mad Men? I LOVE it. For those who aren’t addicted (yet), Mad Men is a drama about an advertising agency in the ’60s. While much of its appeal comes from the excellent, award winning writing, the meticulously accurate ’60s decor and fashion is also a huge draw for me.  You just can’t beat all those sunken living rooms, low slung sofas, and shift dresses.  I can’t get enough! I mean, just look at the living room of the leading character, Don Draper:

Isn’t it great? Well, if you want to get in on some of this ’60s style, check out today’s Friday Feature: Retro Edition.  The homes we’re featuring today would look great filled with mid-century modern furniture and record players.

As always, the featured properties were all listed within the last week with Century 21 Excellence Realty, based in Reynoldsburg, Ohio and serving all of Central Ohio’s real estate and property management needs.  Contact them here for more information about these homes.

This 4 bedroom home in Columbus has it all. From the vintage black and white tiles in the kitchen to the finished basement (complete with bar!), and the huge deck with a big hot tub, you could host a pretty hoppin’ party here. At just $139,900, it’s a great value, too.  Contact Gwendolyn Rogers for more information.

This 2 bedroom Upper Arlington home is basically my dream house.  Built-in cabinets galore, character for miles and totally updated with newer appliances and bright, neutral finishes–perfection! I love that finished basement area with the built in benches all around! And that fireplace just screams mid-century awesomeness.  It’s listed at $198,000 and it won’t last long, so contact Jennifer Montlagh for more information.

With 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths, this cheerful Gahanna home is way bigger than it looks.  It boasts nearly 2,000 square feet, with a huge 2 story dining room addition on the back.  All the charm of the ’60s with all that modern natural light pouring in–what a great combination! It’s listed at $159,900 with Ric Smith–give him a call if you’d like to check it out!

Have a great weekend and happy house hunting!
