New Clintonville Mural

August 29, 2013

There are lots of different ways to slow down traffic, and most are…unpleasant. Nobody likes increased monitoring, cameras at red lights, or reduced speed limits. There are also a lot of nicer ways to make the street safer–medians with trees and flowers, more sidewalks, and increased public art all serve the same purpose while simultaneously uplifting a community. All these tactics are referred to as Traffic Calming.

A brand new and very beautiful traffic calming device was just finished in Clintonville this week. A new mural was painted directly on the road at the intersection of Calumet and Crestview Streets. The Clintonville Street Mural Project had a held a contest, and artist Brenda Lloyd created the winning design–a huge tree, surrounded by lush green leaves.

Check it out next time you’re driving through Clintonville.  And slow down!
