In Defense of the Ranch: Houzz

September 4, 2013

I live in a pretty typical two-story home, where the bedrooms are upstairs and the main living space is on the first floor. Before children, this was perfect. Having a child has complicated things. Of course, there were the concerns about stair climbing when Ruby first became mobile, and now there are the ten thousand trips we take up and down those 14 steps every day to get her dressed, grab a book she forgot, or find a toy. One-story living has become much more appealing to me!

Houzz recently ran a list of reasons why ranches (or ramblers, to some) rock, including their inherent baby boomer friendliness, smaller (read: greener) size, and open floorplans. Take a look, and consider a ranch for your next home. I know I am!
