New York Storage Unit Sells for $300K

September 5, 2013

In most places, $300,000 can buy a beautiful home in a nice neighborhood. In NYC, it will get you a storage unit in the basement of a skyscraper.

The New York Post reported that a not-yet-built Tribeca skyscraper is selling off subterranean cages to its prospective tenants for storage. These windowless, carpetless crates are going for between $70,000, for 40 square feet to $300,000 for 119 square feet. Craziness!

In my native Ohio, that much money would easily get you 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, decked out with fancy finishes. I think I would opt to get rid of some extra stuff before I’d shell out that much cash just to store it.
