Weird Real Estate: Cold War Oasis

We’ve featured some pretty unique real estate here in the past, but this property takes the cake. From street level, you see an average home, with maybe a few odd protrusions in the backyard, but overall, pretty normal. It’s what’s below the house that is so unique. A 16,000 sq. ft. bunker, complete with fake yard, swimming pool, putting green, dance floor, full kitchen and laundry room, and a wet bar, for heaven’s sake, occupy the area beneath the home. Built in 1978, the owner was concerned about the Cold War and apparently wanted to spend the apocalypse in luxury and comfort. The bunker is surrounded by murals, to remind the occupants of what the world used to look like, before it was plunged into nuclear winter. It’s listed at $1.7 million, which is a steal, compared to the $10 million that it cost to build!
