Plans Released for Downtown Columbus Zoo Annex

April 22, 2014

Have you heard that the Columbus Zoo is planning to open a downtown annex right across the street from COSI? A downtown zoo would be such a great addition to the many major family attractions already established there (COSI, the Scioto Mile, the Santa Maria, the Columbus Metropolitan Museum, and the Franklin Park Conservatory).

The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium recently released plans for the new “Downtown Adventure”, and it looks pretty great. They’re planning to include lots of fun features, like an overhead shark tank, a huge jellyfish tank (one of my favorites!), and even a chance to swim with the sharks!! Of course, it all hinges on the passage of the zoo’s tax levy (Issue 6), which you can read more about here. Franklin County citizens will have to decide if the benefits of the downtown zoo will outweigh the costs of increased property taxes.
