Columbus Dispatch: Central Ohio Home-Buyers Encounter Bidding Wars

May 26, 2015

This Clintonville Home sold for $15,000 over its asking price in just 48 hours.

The market here in Central Ohio is heating up right along with the weather! Last week, the Dispatch reported that home-buyers here are having to put special clauses in their contracts to help them beat out the competition in the event of a bidding war, and to agree to buy a home as-is in order to get in to certain neighborhoods. In areas like Upper Arlington, German Village, Grandview Heights, and my beloved Clintonville, the median sale price has gone up several percentage points in the last year, and the demand for homes in increasingly outpacing the supply. Interesting news for sellers, but a tough pill to swallow for buyers out there looking to move to these popular neighborhoods.
